Our Mission

Our Mission at Meadow’s Movement is to save lives by sharing with parents, teachers, and administrators the things that I learned on my journey to understand what went so horribly wrong on that fateful day four years ago - actions that we all can take to both prevent school shootings and limit the loss of life when these tragedies occur.

What I learned is that most school shootings can be prevented.  No student wakes up one morning and simply decides to murder their classmates. There are always warning signs.  It just takes teachers and school administrators that are attuned to these warning signs and have the courage to take the necessary steps to protect their students.

Even in those cases where a school shooting cannot be prevented, things can be done to protect the students and faculty.  Hard corners can be installed in every classroom.  Protocols can be established.  Rapid door locking systems can be employed.  Most importantly, SRO’s can be equipped with the tools and training to stop a school shooter.  93% of the time, a school shooting is over before law enforcement arrives.  That means that SRO’s and School Safety Officers are the true “First Responders.”  We must give them the proper equipment to do their job.

I did not get involved until after it was too late.  I don’t want anyone else to make that same mistake.  I urge you to get involved.  Speak to your child’s Principal.  Reach out to the School Board.  Talk to the Superintendent of Schools.  It is essential that parents ask the tough questions.  It is essential that you know what your school is doing to protect your children.  All it takes is a commitment on the part of parents and school administrators to tackle this problem head on.  Together we can make a difference.

God bless,

Andy Pollack
